Jeff Thomas has been farming full-time at Creeksong Farm since 1979.  He moved to the NC mountains to attend Appalachian State University in Boone, NC.  After graduating from ASU and owning an independent bookstore in Boone for several years, he decided to take the leap into farming.  In Creeksong Farm’s first year, they farmed organic tobacco, continuing the previous farmer’s crop, and pole beans.  Since then, they have expanded the farm’s offerings considerably to encompass many standard and gourmet vegetables and greens.

Bettie McLawhorn Thomas works as a speech pathologist at Blue Ridge Elementary School in Warrensville, NC.  She has been making medicinal and cosmetic herbal products for many years and sells these products at the Watauga County Farmer’s Market.  Bettie also enjoys working with fiber — she spins beautiful and luxurious yarn on her Ashford spinning wheel, and sells the yarn as well as hand-knitted hats and scarves at the Farmers’ Market.

Will Thomas grew up in Ashe County.  After graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Will decided to return to Ashe County to expand the scope of Creeksong Farm.  He works tirelessly to increase the fertility and production of Creeksong Farm in order to expand the farm to be financially profitable for two families.  In 2007, Will married Anna Shirley, an English teacher at Johnson County High School in Mountain City, Tennessee. Anna loves living on the farm and going to the Farmers’ Market on Saturday mornings.  She is also the webmaster of the farm website.
