Community Supported Agriculture is a means of providing support for a farm operation. CSA members provide financial support to the grower and share the risks and benefits of food production. Members pledge in advance to help cover the costs of the farm operation. They can feel, first hand, the ups and downs of the growing season. Each week members receive a share of what is growing on the farm. They can be more in touch with the offerings unique to each season. We are offering our first CSA in 2008. We are offering 8 shares this year. Besides a variety of produce, we plan to offer plants, eggs, and beef from our farm. Each full share costs $500.00 and runs 20 weeks — from June 3 to October 14. We are also offering half shares — $250.00 for 20 weeks. Full shares will receive $25.00 worth of food each week, and half shares will receive $12.50 worth of food. Shares will be available for pickup on Tuesday afternoons between 4:30 and 5:30 p.m. at the back of the Agricultural Extension Building in Boone, North Carolina.
